How to Backup and Upgrade DARCwallet
We have prepared this series of posts to make sure any digital assets you might already have in your DARCwallet are 100% safe.
If you do not have a DARCwallet already, you can skip this step. Just proceed directly to our download page here. If you need help setting up your DARCwallet 4.0.0 with new NEM and Binance Chain addresses, please see our published tutorial here. Our next post will describe in detail how to make the swap of DARC tokens based on NEM for those based on Binance Chain.
If you have a previous version of DARCwallet, and especially if you are securing digital assets there, before you download and install the new DARCwallet 4.0.0 from our website, you should follow the instructions in this post. This tutorial is provided just to make sure that all of your digital assets are backed up in a safe place. We will not be able to replace or assist with any lost information or lost digital assets.
If you have XEM or some of our NEM DARC mosaic tokens stored in your wallet, you need to navigate to this screen to retrieve and store your backup information. The critical pieces you need to backup are: 1) your private key 2) your .wlt file for the NEM blockchain, and 3) your keystore file for the Binance Chain.

After you have backed up your digital asset wallets for both the NEM public blockchain and Binance Chain, now proceed to upgrade your DARCwallet. If you haven’t downloaded the newest version of DARCwallet yet, do so here. You can view a step-by-step tutorial with screenshots included on how to create a new one here.
After you have upgraded your DARCwallet, you should still be able to login using your password from the previous version of your DARCwallet.
