Exrates: The First Chapter

Konstellation Network (DARC)
4 min readApr 10, 2019

The Konstellation team was excited to announce our first exchange listing on Exrates yesterday! We believe that providing liquidity to our token holders is important. We also believe that Exrates is an important piece of the globally emerging NEM blockchain community, provides DARC exposure to new emerging markets, and allows fiat onramps in a variety of currencies.

Is Exrates the right exchange of choice?

We have heard from the community over the past few weeks that the choice of exchange is imperative for DARC. We have taken these concerns with us in our discussions with exchanges while considering the full universe of liquidity platforms. We want to reassure the community that we hear all of you. This is why we sought to provide this post to share insights into our strategy.

This is just the beginning.

There are critics that have asked why we hadn’t considered being listed on a top exchange as the first option. However, many of us on the team have been involved or have had first hand knowledge with projects that have suffered because they failed to recognize that immediate breadth and depth of market actually serves as a detriment to long term growth and that one ace is not enough to win every hand of poker.

Long Term Strategy is Key

Our strategy has been optimized for the most critical elements that can contribute to the long term success of the Konstellation Network and DARC. Our priorities and goals are aligned to provide maximum value to the DARC ecosystem in the long run.

In 1999, back when Amazon was just a bookstore that happened to be online, CEO Jeff Bezos was queried by an investor frustrated by the company’s strategy at that time. With a puzzled look, Bezos told the interviewer, “In the long term, there is never any misalignment between customer interest and [shareholder] interest.” We revert to the alignment of the value of the Konstellation Network and token participants today.

We are currently consumed by a single overwhelming goal: to increase participants to the DARC ecosystem and the value add usage of DARC. As we stated in a previous post, in the words of BAT engineer Scott Locklin, we are trying to “lure more turtles” to our blockchain island. DarcMatter is a core component of that story with a global asset manager and investor base that will be integrated into the Konstellation Network.

Exrates is an important first step in that process. When we started working on a grand vision for our strategy beyond a single exchange partner, several key qualifications came into focus: (1) risk and expertise, (2) market accessibility, (3) performance and (4) strategic global expansion.

Risk and Expertise

Exrates ranks #2 in XEM (NEM) trade volume. In fact, it ranks higher than exchange stalwarts Binance, Huobi, BitThumb and OKEx. Exrates is also one of the most experienced exchanges that integrates NEM-based mosaic tokens.

Market Accessibility

Exrates was founded in 2015. As such, it is one of the more seasoned cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. It is registered in Switzerland and currently has in excess of 146 trading pairs. Exrates’ most active users come from the USA, Russia, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates, as reported by Alexa.

Another important consideration is that Exrates provides many fiat on-ramps. In fact, they accept currencies from all over the world including the big three: US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), and Chinese Yuan (CNY). But they also provide services to fiat holders of Emirati Dirham (AED), Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), Russian Ruble (RUB), Vietnamese Dong (VND), Turkish Lira (TRY), Nigerian Naira (NGN) and Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH).

As we continue to grow and expand the community, we are in active discussions with platforms in South Korea. South Korea has been positioned to be a key marketplace for the blockchain community and we will grow our stronghold there.

Performance

The exchange is currently ranked #36 on Coinmarketcap by measure of adjusted USD volume. That number is growing, perhaps due to a recent complete overhaul of the user interface. This recent upgrade has massively improved the user experience.

The first, of more to come.

Exrates is the first liquidity partner strategically picked to fit DARC’s long-term plan. The fabric of Exrates and future platforms will build a significant infrastructure for our global community to interact, acquire and utilize DARC in the near future.

Your support is the cornerstone of our success, and we would like to stay actively engaged with you to grow together.

More information on how to transfer your token onto Exrates will be made available, along with trading date news. Our community management team is also ready to take questions, should you have any, to make sure everyone can trade with confidence. If you’d like to engage with us, please reach out to our Telegram and Discord communities where we are most active.
