Introduction

A bridge is a piece of software that allows someone to send tokens out of one blockchain network and receive them on a separate chain. Similar to a physical bridge that connects two physical locations, a blockchain bridge connects two different blockchain ecosystems. Bridges help facilitate communication between blockchains through the transfer of assets and information. Bridges are completely necessary because they enable: the cross-chain transfer of assets and information, decentralized applications to access the strengths of various blockchains–thus enhancing capabilities, users to access new platforms and leverage the benefits of different chains and developers from different blockchain ecosystems to collaborate and build new platforms for users.

New and Improved Konstellation Bridge

The Konstellation Bridge allows DARC holders to move their DARC from the Konstellation network to Binance Smart Chain with ease. The previous iteration of the bridge experienced a few isolated instances in which transactions were passed over due to the structure of the parsers. In order to enhance the Konstellation Bridge, the team has redesigned the structure of the bridge with new parsers that will fetch transaction blocks on a one by one basis from each node.

The Konstellation Bridge redesign has a few key features that have been added to maximize efficiency and ensure that functionality is maintained under any conditions.

•Updated transaction parser

•Updated method of handling unsuccessful transactions

One of the core elements for any bridge is guaranteeing that transactions will process in an orderly manner and that quoted prices will be maintained once bridged over. The new transaction parser fetches every block from the nodes and validates that the provided information via the oracle is correct. Once the transaction has been validated then the swap will commence. The new transaction parser fixes the previous issue of isolated swaps being passed over because the new parser checks each individual block.

Handling unsuccessful transactions on a blockchain system is difficult due to the immutable nature of these systems. Once an action has been processed on the blockchain it cannot be overturned or reverted back to the original state. The Konstellation team recognizes this fact and has instituted a system for preventing unsuccessful transactions before they are processed by the blockchain. This system is also a byproduct of the transaction parsers that were previously discussed. These parsers will not accept an action to be taken if the action is not completely logical. For instance, a swap with no gas usage or an incorrect transaction submission will not be processed on the blockchain which gives users the ability to correct their transaction in order to recoup funds before the transaction becomes immutable.

Conclusion

Having the ability to engage with multiple chains and maintain financial integrity throughout the process is a key pillar of cryptocurrency. Through leveraging bridge technology, individuals are able to experience decentralized finance in the way it was intended and learn about the ecosystems that surround this amazing technical landscape. The Konstellation team is proud to introduce a nascent and extremely efficient new bridge to the platform and we look forward to continuing our work as innovators in the DeFi space.
